Job Summary:

Join our dynamic team at Arts Council of Winston-Salem & Forsyth County as a Corporate Communications Marketing Fellow, where creativity meets strategy in the vibrant world of arts and culture. As a key member of our communications team, you will play a key role in enhancing the visibility and impact of our organization. This fellowship offers a unique opportunity to blend your passion for the arts with your marketing prowess, contributing to the success of our diverse range of cultural initiatives. This position works independently with some guidance by the CMO.


Job Responsibilities:

Content Creation:

  • Develop compelling and engaging content for various channels, including e-newsletters, social media, print publications, and website updates

  • Craft narratives that effectively communicate the mission, programs, and achievements of Arts Council to diverse audiences.

 

Graphic Design:

  • Design print, digital, and social marketing collateral guided by brand standards for Arts Council corporate communications including development materials, event-related content for the sector, and more.

  • Utilize Canva Pro or Adobe Creative Cloud to develop and edit materials.

  • Design materials for programs such as the Mary Alice Warren Community Center, Grant Outreach, and more.


Social Media:

  • Create, schedule, and share social media posts for Arts Council-related news and sector-wide communications.

  • Create and boost paid social media ads for targeted demographics

  • Work with arts marketing partners to create weekly “Arts Council Roundup” social media posts highlighting events happening across the community

  • Develop campaigns to support the promotion of area-wide events across Forsyth County

  • Manage Instagram and Facebook content ensuring timely reposts of Stories as appropriate

E-blasts:

  • Design, schedule, and disseminate monthly e-blasts promoting community events to Arts Council’s distribution list and segmented lists (working with Programming Marketing Fellow and Chief Marketing Officer to avoid overlap)

  • Design, schedule, and disseminate one-off e-blasts for special promos

  • Update Constant Contact distribution lists with subscriber information


Marketing Strategy:

  • Attend marketing meetings and contribute to conversations around event promotion, artists and content, branding, marketing strategies, and audience development.

  • Manage Marketing Calendar in Outlook, populating due dates for content creation, social media posts, and eblasts (in collaboration with Programming Marketing Fellow and Chief Marketing Officer)

 

Administrative Support:

  • Provide general administrative support to the marketing and development team.

  • Assist in maintaining marketing databases and tracking promotional materials.

 

Community Outreach:

  • Engage with local community partners and influencers to expand our reach and impact.

  • Assist in developing partnerships that enhance the visibility of Arts Council.

  • As needed, attend community-wide events for photo/video/social media documentation.

 

Other:

  • Perform work in a manner that is consistent with Arts Council’s mission, vision, and values, including advancing Arts Council’s commitment to equity, diversity, accessibility, and inclusion.

  • This role may evolve as the organization’s corporate communications needs change.

  • Per Arts Council requirements, all material-generating work must be done using Arts Council-owned technology, software, and accounts, and saved in Arts Council’s cloud storage/server.

  • And other duties as assigned.


Experience/Job Requirements:

  • At least 2 years of experience creating digital and print marketing materials

  • Strong, creative graphic design skills with experience adhering to brand standards

  • At least 2 years of experience creating social media content for a company/organization (preferably in the arts/cultural realm)

  • Experience creating and sending emails via Constant Contact or similar

  • Strong copywriting skills; close attention to detail relating to spelling, grammar, punctuation, and context

  • Strong time management skills; the ability to work on multiple concurrent projects and adhere to deadlines

  • Ability to incorporate feedback from multiple individuals into design/content creation

  • Interest in live event programming, marketing strategy, and audience development

  • Availability to work in-office at least 15 hours per week on a set weekly schedule (between 10am-6pm M-F)

  • Availability to work occasional evening/weekend shifts for events

  • Proven ability to work as part of a diverse team of individuals

  • Essential functions: The ability to communicate effectively via computer, phone, writing, and in person; the ability to utilize computer software to create graphic designs featuring images, text, and colors; the ability to utilize marketing email software and social media programs to effectively communicate text and images; the ability to prepare, distinguish, and distribute printed materials.

 

Position Terms:

This position is sponsored by Arts Council of Winston-Salem & Forsyth County and funded through ARPA supported by the Forsyth County Board of Commissioners. This position will be funded through December 2024.
