In a cheap motel room, an embezzling mayor is set to meet with his nervous yet determined accountant, while in the adjoining room, two undercover cops are ready to catch him in the act. But what should be a straightforward sting operation quickly spirals into chaos as mistaken identities, hidden cameras, and unexpected visitors throw everything off course.
With confusion mounting, no one is quite sure who’s in which room, who’s being recorded, who has taken the missing money, or who—if anyone—actually hired a hitman. And through it all, the accountant keeps inexplicably removing her clothes. Packed with rapid-fire dialogue, slamming doors, and over-the-top physical comedy, Unnecessary Farce delivers nonstop laughs in this wildly entertaining, fast-paced farce by Paul Slade Smith.
“Directing this show is like orchestrating a symphony of chaos—doors slam, pants drop, and stakes skyrocket,” remarked Director Philip Powell. “If you love silliness, fast-paced wit, mistaken identities, and characters running around in their underwear, this is the show for you!”
Unnecessary Farce will be directed by Philip Powell. This Robot Dreams will design the set, with lighting design by Suzanne Vaughn. Tara Raczenski will design costumes, and Elizabeth J. Rief will stage manage the production. The cast is as follows:
Isaac Hampton – Eric Sheridan
Rene Lynn Walek – Billie Dwyer
Ann Breitbach – Karen Brown
Matthew Cravey – Mayor Meekly
Latimer Alexander – Agent Frank
Dave Dobson – Todd
Ashley Edwards – Mary Meekly
An Opening Night Reception, with complimentary wine and hors d’oeuvres, courtesy of Raffaldini Vineyards and Compass Financial Services, will be held on Friday, March 28, beginning at 6:30 pm.
Unnecessary Farce runs approximately two hours long, including one 15-minute intermission. It is recommended for ages 16+.
