Forsyth County hosts Workplace Campaign to Benefit Arts Council
Forsyth County supported Arts Council of Winston-Salem and Forsyth County in May of 2026 by hosting a workplace campaign. Forsyth County employees had the opportunity to learn about the Arts Council and support the arts financially by donating to the campaign. On the final day of the campaign, Forsyth County invited local artists to their market. Artists kept 100% of the profits from their sales. Lyrics by the Lake Returns!
“Lyrics by the Lake” feels like your favorite family reunion, cookout, and homecoming tailgate all in one. Created in 2021, “Lyrics by the Lake” has continued to grow and has quickly become a summer staple in Winston-Salem and has now returned at Arts Council! Come join us at the next show! Food trucks and food vendors lined the sidewalks at Milton Rhodes Center for the Arts. Local businesses filled Hanesbrands Theatre. In partnership with The Arts Council of Winston-Salem &


Arts Council Advocates in Raleigh
NC ARTS Day is an annual state-wide advocacy event and conference held in Raleigh, NC, dedicated to strengthening and celebrating North Carolina's creative community. The 2026 event took place on May 12 and 13.

The Arts Council Funds a Wake Forest Pilot Study: Prescribing Arts as a Tool in Forsyth County
The Arts Council funded an Arts on Prescription pilot study which allows physicians to prescribe dance, music, art or creative writing experiences as a social behavior that can improve their health and wellbeing. This innovative project brings together leadership from the Intergenerational Center for the Arts and Wellness at Senior Services, Inc, the Arts Council of Winston-Salem and Forsyth County, Wake Forest University School of Medicine and independent teaching artists. Arts Council Names Shannon B. Henry as New President and CEO
Shannon B. Henry has served as Interim President and CEO since July 2025 and will now continue in the role on a permanent basis.
