  • The Artist Creative Practice Grant supports a variety of professional development opportunities including milestone activities in an artist's career that will likely lead to substantial career growth. 


Call for Artists

  •  HPAC Community Art Project: ROOTED 

    • deadline February 15, 2026

    • The artist selected will work with Rec Center Supervisor Tevon Womack and affiliate organizations and community members to learn about the history and heritage of the neighborhood, engage the community, and produce a public artwork that celebrates the Southwest neighborhood and residents. 


  • Associated Artists

    • deadline Monday February 9, 2026

    • Call for 2D art in the highly-visible exhibit space, “Salem Foyer” on the main floor of the Benton Convention Center.

ARTIST CREATIVE PRACTICE 

  

Program Description 

South Arts recognizes the importance of professional development in building artists’ careers. Even with stipends or payments, overall expenses can make participating in these opportunities inaccessible. South Arts offers Artist Creative Practice Grants (formerly Individual Artist Career Opportunity Grants) to ensure that artists from our region can take advantage of a variety of career enhancing opportunities. 

The Artist Creative Practice Grant supports a variety of professional development opportunities including milestone activities in an artist's career that will likely lead to substantial career growth. 

Grants up to $3,000 are available for opportunities taking place between November 1, 2025, and June 30, 2026. 

Important Dates & Deadlines 

Minimum/Maximum Grant Request 

$500/$3,000 

Grant Period 

November 1, 2025 – June 30, 2026 

Applications Open 

July 16, 2025 

Applications Close 

April 30, 2026 

Applications Due  

Rolling Deadline with final applications due no later than 11:59PM, April 30, 2026. 

Applicant Notifications 

Applications will be reviewed for funding decisions on a 2-month cycle. 

Activities Start Date 

On or After November 1, 2025. 

Activities End Date

Call for Artists: HPAC Community Art Project: ROOTED 

 

The attached link is a call for artists for our new community art project. ROOTED. This project will be concentrated in the Southwest High Point neighborhood at the Southside Recreation Center. The Center is home to several affiliate organizations, such as the Piedmont Health Center and Sickle Cell Agency; the Boys and Girls Club of Greater High Point; Fairview Family Resource Center; and High Point LEAP.  https://forms.gle/bVjRL98cySxFZ9cDA

Deadline to apply is February 15th. Artists must have worked in community art and share examples of their previous work.

The Little Theatre of Winston-Salem

  • Auditions: The Book of Will by Lauren Gunderson

  • Celebrate the magic of Shakespeare in The Book of Will! Set in Elizabethan London, this heartfelt tale follows two actors racing to preserve their late friend's legacy. A true story of love, loss and the timeless power of words.

Stained Glass Playhouse

  • Auditions: “Driving Miss Daisy” by Alfred Uhry, directed by Randy Morris

  • Having recently demolished another car, a rich, sharp-tongued Jewish widow is informed by her son that she must rely on the services of a chauffeur. The person he hires for the job is a thoughtful, unemployed black man, whom Miss Daisy immediately regards with disdain and who, in turn, is not impressed with his employer’s patronizing tone and latent prejudice. Despite their mutual differences, the two grow ever closer.

Associated Artists of Winston-Salem

  • Call for Art: Subtle Transitions

  • Call for 2D art in the highly-visible exhibit space, “Salem Foyer” on the main floor of the Benton Convention Center. There is NO theme, but the show is juried by an AAWS committee.

2025 Holiday Hours:

The Milton Rhodes Center for the Arts will have reduced hours from 1p - 9p on the 22nd and 23rd and will be closed from the 24th through the 4th reopening on the 5th.
