Artistic Elements Residency Program

The Artistic Elements Residency Program, led by The CMPND in partnership with HUSTLE Winston-Salem, is a creative incubator designed to support local artists in Forsyth County by providing them with the resources, mentorship, and studio space needed to transform their artistic practice into a sustainable career. Through access to business development, studio space, and mentorship, the program empowers artists to build viable creative businesses while strengthening the local arts and entrepreneurship ecosystem. The program directly aligns with the city’s commitment to arts and entrepreneurship, creating opportunities for local artists to thrive and contribute to the community.

The funding goal for 2025 is $100,000+, which will support two residency cohorts throughout 2025 and set us up to continue our residency offering for 2026 and years to come. These funds will cover operational costs, artist stipends, mentorship, programming, marketing, showcase expenses and space expansion. The CMPND aims to expand its impact by securing sustainable funding to continue providing this opportunity for emerging artists in Forsyth County.

Soul Sessions

Soul Sessions is a live music series designed to showcase and elevate Winston-Salem’s vibrant music scene. In partnership with Heart & Soul/Kathie Cavanaugh, CMPND provides local musicians with professional performance opportunities, high-quality recordings, and increased visibility. The program fosters artistic growth, community engagement, and economic opportunities for musicians by connecting them with audiences, venues, and industry professionals.

Through live performances, professional audio/video recording, and digital distribution, Soul Sessions amplifies the voices of local artists while strengthening Forsyth County’s reputation as a hub for creative talent.
Additionally, The CMPND & Heart&Soul are developing an online music resource directory to further support musicians by providing a centralized platform for networking, collaboration, and exposure.

We are seeking $50,000 in funding to support the continued growth and sustainability of Soul Sessions and an online Music Directory in 2025:

  • $25,000 to cover production costs, venue costs, marketing, and professional audio/video recording.

  • $25,000 to fund the creation and maintenance of an online music resource directory, designed to connect musicians with performance opportunities, venues, and industry professionals.

Funding Soul Sessions will not only expand performance opportunities for local musicians but also support the development of a comprehensive music directory, creating a vital resource for artists to connect with venues, event organizers, and industry professionals.

About Arts Council's Fiscal Sponsorships

In 2021, Arts Council launched a new service to the community by serving as a fiscal agent for projects that fulfil our mission as the chief advocate of arts and culture in Winston-Salem and Forsyth County. A fiscal agent is an established IRS 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization that agrees to accept donations on behalf of a group that does not have IRS tax exemption. By serving as a fiscal agent for various local projects, we are better able to support the arts and cultural community by accepting funds on our partner's behalf and granting them back to our partner organization. This gives donors a tax deduction for their gift and helps for us to better fulfil our mission at Arts Council.
