Motion is a fundamental concept across disciplines, from physics to fine art. In its simplest definition, motion is the change in position of an object over time relative to a reference point. Within the visual arts, however, motion becomes a powerful tool for engaging the viewer, conveying energy, and creating dynamic compositions.

For this upcoming exhibition at the Milton Rhodes Center for the Arts, we invite artists across all media—2D, 3D, digital, kinetic, and mixed media—to explore the essence of motion. Consider how movement dances through form and color, how it stirs the still, guides the eye, or breathes life into the inanimate. Whether gentle or electric, fleeting or constant, we welcome interpretations that capture the poetry of motion in all its visible and invisible rhythms.
