Elaina Barron, a 2024-2025 Artist Support Grantee, received support for her to purchase her first laptop, which helped her finalize “Ely B(e) Speakin’,” her debut poetry collection. The funding also covered printing costs for the first 50 copies of her book, which she debuted at the International Black Theatre Festival — reaching a national audience for the first time. All 50 copies sold out, marking a powerful turning point not just in Barron’s career, but in her confidence as an artist. Since then, her book has been added to a university library collection, fulfilling a milestone she once only dreamed of achieving.
