Pamela Howland Independent Artist Fund
About the Program
Artists living in Winston-Salem/Forsyth County may apply for the Pamela Howland Independent Artist Fund. This fund has been launched by Arts Council of Winston-Salem & Forsyth County in honor and memory of the extraordinary pianist and music educator, Pamela Howland.
Dr. Howland earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music, and achieved her Doctor of Musical Arts in Piano Performance and Literature from Eastman School of Music. After moving to Winston-Salem, Dr. Howland held teaching positions at various universities including Wake Forest, UNCSA, UNCG and UNCSA Community Music.
The Pamela Howland Independent Artist Fund will provide annually three awards of $2,000 each, in three categories that support committed, gifted individual artists and small, unincorporated groups of collaborating artists residing in Winston-Salem/Forsyth County. The award categories are visual arts, performing arts, and art that is interdisciplinary and/or innovative for the community. Pamela Howland Award recipients will showcase their work in a final tribute event.
