ORBSCURED and QUESTIONS > ANSWERS Opening Reception

Arts Council of Winston-Salem and Forsyth County is pleased to present ORBSCURED by Michael Clapp and Questions > Answers by Gabe Fonorow in a compelling dual exhibition running June 6 – July 27, 2025 in the Main Gallery at the Milton Rhodes Center for the Arts, with an opening reception Friday, June 6 from 5-7 PM.  

This exhibition brings together two immersive installations by artists Michael Clapp and Gabe Fonorow, whose works explore the intersections of art, design, architecture, and music through abstract and non-objective visual languages. ORBSCURED, a sculptural installation by Clapp in collaboration with architect Meriç Özgen under their studio SCHEMA, explores how digital and physical realities blur through the concept of “resolution.” As a meditation on digital impermanence, it reflects what Clapp describes as “the pursuit to enhance, define, and extract meaning from what lies between the pixels.” 

In contrast yet in harmony, Gabe Fonorow’s painting series Questions > Answers embraces uncertainty as creative fuel, offering works shaped by inquiry rather than conclusion. “Questions are possibilities. They are potential. They are a beginning,” said Fonorow. Together, the installations act as deep inquiries into the ways we experience perception, technology, curiosity, and meaning, offering two distinct but harmonizing perspectives on how we process and reimagine the visible world. Both invite viewers into a dynamic interplay of thought, sensation, and discovery.
