International Black Theatre Festival Gallery Opening

The opening exhibition and feature presentation for the NC Black Repertory Company (NCBLAC) during the International Black Theatre Festival is the Gallery Reception alongside a film screening of, "Holy Ground: The Legacy of the National Black Theatre Festival." 

• Date & Time: Tuesday, July 28, 2026, the film screening is at 10:45, with the Gallery Opening starting at 5:30pm

• Location: Hanesbrands Theatre, Milton Rhodes Center for the Arts (209 N Spruce Street, Winston-Salem, NC)

• Admission: Gallery Opening is free, the film screening is $20.00 

The documentary film covers decades of archival footage, interviews with Black theatre legends, and a behind-the-scenes look at the NC Black Rep. 

Holy Ground is a documentary film celebrating the legacy of the National Black Theatre Festival® (NBTF), its founder, Larry Leon Hamlin, “Mr. Marvtastic,” and Executive Producer Emeritus, Sylvia Sprinkle-Hamlin. The film features interviews with Black Theatre legends, groundbreaking performances, archival NBTF footage, and a behind-the-scenes look at NC Black Rep. This visual narrative shines a light on the birthplace of the National Black Theatre Festival, Winston-Salem, North Carolina—the City of Arts and Innovation. Holy Ground promises to be one of the most entertaining and culturally significant films in the history of Black Theatre. Directed by Jackie Alexander and Ka’ramuu Kush.
