National Black Theatre Festival – Film Festival

This event recognizes independent filmmakers for their enormous contributions to the industry.

Dear Artists:

Thank you for inquiring about the NBTF Film Fest, a component of the 2022 National Black Theatre Festival® (NBTF) to be held August 1 – 6, 2022 in Winston-Salem, NC.

This event recognizes independent filmmakers for their enormous contributions to the industry. African Americans have long made a profound change in the landscape of cinematic expression. Many of these changes are due to the hard work and dedication of African American artists behind the camera.

  • Film synopsis and exact length of film

  • URL to film trailer if available

  • Electronic reviews of film. Identify the publication (s).

  • Highlight of celebrity performers.

If your film is selected, be prepared to make available a DCP, Digital Cinema Package, that can be downloaded for public airing in a theatre.
