Classification: Part time (includes nights & weekends), hourly, non-exempt

Pay Rate: $17/hr

Job Summary:

Arts Council Production Associates provide technical support and oversight for rental organizations and resident companies utilizing Arts Council performance venues for performances and live events, and work as part of the Production team to ensure the safe and proper use of Arts Council venues and equipment.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Monitor rental organizations and resident companies working in Arts Council venues, ensuring work is being done safely and in accordance with Arts Council rules.

  • Oversee production needs for live performances, screenings, concerts, receptions, private parties, rehearsals, meetings, conferences, or other live events, by:

  • Opening and closing facilities for rental groups and resident companies

  • Supervising load-ins and load-outs, performing safety checks and ensuring rental organizations have removed all event-related materials at load-out

  • Providing basic sound and lighting support

  • Holding rental organizations accountable for timely use of the space, enforcing arrival and departure times according to their rental agreements

  • Ensuring safe and proper set-up and usage of Arts Council equipment

  • Supervising production labor crews hired by Arts Council

  • Assisting with emergency evacuation and response

  • Assist Production Manager/Technical Coordinator with tracking inventory of technical and production resources

  • Assist Production Manager/Technical Coordinator with venue and inventory maintenance, updates, installations, and change-overs.

  • Perform work in a manner that is consistent with Arts Council’s mission, vision, and values, including advancing the organization’s commitment to equity, diversity, accessibility, and inclusion

  • Other duties as assigned by Production Manager or Director of Theatre Operations & Programming


Experience/Job Requirements:

  • Two or more years of experience working with theatrical lighting, audio, and video equipment

  • Knowledge of and ability to enforce safe working practices

  • Strong supervisory, problem-solving, and communication skills

  • Proven ability to work as part of a diverse team of individuals

  • Flexible availability for work hours, including nights and weekends

  • Working experience with scaffolding, powered lift equipment, power tools, rigging systems, and various other technical equipment used in stage operations preferred

  • Essential functions: The ability to move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds, ascend and work atop ladders and lifts, perceive and adjust lighting and sound settings, learn technical material, operate and inspect technical equipment, communicate effectively via computer, writing, and in-person
