O&0 Short Film
Arts Council is proud to serve as a fiscal agent for O&0 Short Film.
O&0 is a short film written by Jack Lafferty, slated to be filmed in the summer of 2023 in Winston Salem, NC & Forsyth County.
The film is an interwoven story of a single day from 3 perspectives: a combat veteran struggling to adjust to civilian life; an immigrant father passing on his American dream to his first generation American daughter; and an everyday restaurant server who is drowning in ‘first world problems’.
When these worlds collide to irreparable consequences, we are forced to question what we value in life, what we take for granted, how we treat strangers, and assumptions we make. In showing us how quickly a day, even a life can slip through our fingers, O&0 exposes just how narrow our individual perspectives can be.
If we were to consider ourselves “More Similar Than Different”, if we took the time to understand what is below our surface, and extend that same patience to others, we could find the compassion to truly connect with one another.
We have a burning desire to squeeze every ounce of potential out of this gripping story, and to truly do justice to the ever prevalent themes within it including: Mental Health, Suicide, Immigration, Gun Violence, PTSD, Veteran Affairs, Prejudice, and Privilege.
In supporting our film you will have a direct impact on helping to cover the essential costs of a condensed 7 day shoot, compensating over 30 artists, and helping bring to life this gripping story.
Upon completion we will submit our film to a curated list of 48 film festivals to bring our story to an expansive audience and draw as much attention as possible to the difficult subject matters contained in the film. We will also seek to partner with local and national charities to directly benefit the communities and issues represented in the film.

In 2021, Arts Council launched a new service to the community by serving as a fiscal agent for projects that fulfil our mission as the chief advocate of arts and culture in Winston-Salem and Forsyth County. A fiscal agent is an established IRS 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization that agrees to accept donations on behalf of a group that does not have IRS tax exemption. By serving as a fiscal agent for various local projects, we are better able to support the arts and cultural community by accepting funds on our partner's behalf and granting them back to our partner organization. This gives donors a tax deduction for their gift and helps for us to better fulfil our mission at Arts Council.
