The Arts Council Campus, located in the heart of downtown Winston-Salem, NC is comprised of two primary buildings - Hanesbrands Theatre and the Milton Rhodes Center for the Arts.

Hanesbrands Theatre 

Constructed in 2010, Hanesbrands Theatre is located at 209 N Spruce Street. It was the first of the three multi-function theatres on Arts Council's campus. With state-of-the art lighting, projection, and audio systems, Hanesbrands Theatre is the premier black-box theatre in Winston-Salem, and one of only three art venues in the City with a DCP projection system. Milton Rhodes Center for the Arts

Constructed in 2010 and renovated in 2019, the Milton Rhodes Center for the Arts is located at 251 N Spruce Street. The Center is home to two performance venues, two art galleries, a gift shop, and a community arts school.

Sawtooth School for Visual Art

Founded in 1945, Sawtooth School for Visual Art is a non-profit community arts school residing in the Marshall Street-facing side of the Milton Rhodes Center. This historic building was once the home of Shamrock Mills, which later became Hanes Hosiery, predecessors of today’s Hanesbrands Inc. (Read more)

Reynolds Place Theatre

Added to the first floor of the Milton Rhodes Center in 2019, Reynolds Place Theatre boasts state-of-the art LED lighting, projection, and audio systems that can accommodate virtually any live event. Fully retractable seating makes this flexible space ideal for traditional performances or open floor-plan events. (Read more)

Mountcastle Forum

Located on the second floor of the Milton Rhodes Center, Mountcastle Forum is an intimate and flexible black-box theatre that hosts smaller-scale performances and private events. (Read more)

Main Gallery 

The Main Gallery hosts art exhibitions which are professionally curated year-round by local and national artists. Located on the main floor of the Milton Rhodes Center, the Main Gallery is a dramatic and welcoming space that seamlessly connects the main entrance with the Community Arts Gift Shop and front desk. Community Arts Gift Shop

Adjacent to the Main Gallery, Arts Council's Community Arts Gift Shop sells art and wares created by local artisans. The shop promotes awareness of and provides financial support for artists from across our diverse community. (Read more)

Every Corner Gallery

As the home exhibition gallery for juried works by members of Associated Artists of Winston-Salem, the Every Corner Gallery is a veritable “canvas of the community”.  Located on the main level of the Milton Rhodes Center for the Arts, the gallery extends from the vestibule of Reynolds Place Theatre and curves around to the base of the spiral stair.

Its unique location and shape make the Every Corner Gallery a de facto “art in unusual places” venue.  Patrons of Reynolds Place Theatre, Sawtooth, the Community Gift Shop and other Milton Rhodes Center destinations are likely to find themselves pleasantly exposed to an unexpected curated exhibition of works by local artists.

On-Campus Parking

Convenient paid parking is available in the paved lot across the street from the Milton Rhodes Center for the Arts. Event Parking is available for $3, and Daily Parking is available for $5. There are several additional parking garages located within walking distance.


Concessions are available for purchase before performances and during intermission for events in Hanesbrands Theatre, Reynolds Place Theatre, and Mountcastle Forum. Selection includes popcorn, candy, sodas, water, wine, and beer. Concessions are permitted inside theatre venues unless otherwise noted. All concessions proceeds benefit Arts Council of Winston-Salem & Forsyth County.
