The Arts Council
Extension Building

The Arts Council Extension (the “ACE Building”) is our administrative facility at 419 N. Spruce Street, less than two blocks up the street from the Milton Rhodes Center for the Arts. The ACE Building is “home” to both the North Carolina Black Repertory Company and The Winston-Salem Little Theatre, two of our longstanding partner organizations.
We acquired and renovated the ACE Building in 2019 – with special generous assistance by the Forsyth County Board of Commissioners – in order to bring these two dynamic and legendary theatrical companies to the Downtown Theatre District. Each of them stages productions and other events in our Hanesbrands Theatre, Reynolds Place Theatre and Mountcastle Forum/Theatre. Moreover, their presence downtown has created synergies with several other arts organizations and inspired multiple collaborations.
In addition to their administrative offices, the ACE Building provides each of the North Carolina Black Repertory Company and The Little Theatre with 1,000 square feet of critically-need rehearsal space. For more information about these organizations, see
