Community Impact

For almost 60 years, The Arts Council has provided proactive leadership and sparked cultural growth.  Our grant programs provide arts education experiences to school children, nurture artists and advance their careers and help arts and cultural organizations in our community provide quality performances, exhibits and events throughout the year.  Annually we touch more than 500,000 local residents and school children through programs and initiatives we support.

The activities of The Arts Council build community and present countless opportunities for persons from all walks of life to interact.  Aside from faith-related activities, the arts are the primary way we strengthen the fabric of our community through volunteer activities, and shared experience.

The arts have a substantial economic impact on Winston-Salem and Forsyth County.  The arts account for hundreds of jobs and millions of dollars in our local economy.

Economic development officials, industry executives, and others repeatedly have said that the efforts to promote Winston-Salem and Forsyth County and attract new industry and qualified professionals is greatly enhanced by the rich offerings of the arts.
